How We Got Started

Hi, I'm Liz McGhee, and I'm thrilled you're visiting New Leaf Neuro. I developed The New Leaf Method in 2010 after battling Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) for many years. Despite my 20+ years of experience in public health—specializing in infectious disease prevention and pathology—I faced a deeply personal challenge. My extreme sensitivities and chronic symptoms made me realize that my brain’s limbic system was stuck in a constant fight, flight, or freeze cycle, leaving my body dysregulated.

Determined to heal, I created a brain-based rehabilitation program using neuroplasticity and neurogenesis principles. This approach rewired my faulty neural pathways and led to my full recovery after years of research and trial and error. I also discovered that gut health is pivotal to recovery, which is why I integrated The New Leaf Gut Protocol into our program. By addressing both brain retraining and gut healing, New Leaf Neuro offers a comprehensive, science-backed approach to achieving lasting recovery and well-being.

At New Leaf Neuro, we are dedicated to advancing research in brain and nervous system health while exploring cutting-edge neuroplasticity solutions. One of our key focus areas is investigating how Audio-Visual Brainwave Entrainment (AVE), combined with clinical hypnosis, can support individuals with ADHD and Autism in educational settings. By utilizing targeted brainwave frequencies, we aim to enhance focus, improve emotional regulation, and optimize cognitive function, helping individuals achieve greater learning success and overall well-being.

Additionally, our research delves into how precise brainwave entrainment can rewire neural pathways, addressing the root causes of cognitive and behavioral challenges. This work holds tremendous potential in reshaping the way we approach neurodevelopmental conditions. We are deeply grateful for our dedicated team of experts whose relentless pursuit of innovation is paving the way for transformative breakthroughs in neuroplasticity and cognitive rehabilitation.
